Introduction: The physiological actions of catecholamines have led to the empirical use of adrenaline in the management of anaphylaxis, with alpha-adrenergic activation increasing peripheral vascular resistance and beta-adrenergic activation relaxing bronchial smooth muscle and inhibiting histamine release.
